>>RECOVERY NEWS<< Study Finds Invasive Vine Could Help Treat Alcoholism

USA Today is reporting a study on a compound derived from an invasive vine that could be used to treat alcoholics.  The study was performed by Ivan Diamond, professor emeritus of neurology, neuroscience, and cellular and molecular pharmacology at the University of California-San Francisco, and Ting-Kai Li, former director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

An ingredient derived from the vine noted for gobbling up native Southeast landscapes could help treat alcoholism, according to a study.  Kudzu contains a substance called daidzin, which could make drinking alcohol an unpleasant experience. The researchers developed a synthetic form of daidzin, which they say shows promise in laboratory tests.
